ROUTINE EYE EXAMS

What Will Your Ophthalmologist Check During a Routine Eye Exam?

Your routine eye exam should be simple and comfortable. On average, it will take between 60 to 90 minutes. The exam will include:

  • Your medical history
  • Your prescription for corrective lenses
  • Your pupils
  • Your side vision
  • Your eye movement
  • Your eye pressure
  • The front part of your eye
  • Your retina and optic nerve

What Else Can Your Routine Eye Exam Include?

If anything unusual appears, Dr. Galloway may recommend additional tests to further examine your eye. This can include specialized imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photos, fluorescein angiography (FA), topography (a scan of the surface of your cornea), and automated visual field analysis.

These tests aid in the early detection of diseases by detecting problems in the back of the eye, on the eye's surface, or inside the eye.

Each component of the comprehensive eye exam provides vital information about your eyes' health. Make an appointment for a comprehensive eye exam as part of your overall health care.
